Dario takes its name from the famous writer
and poet Ruben Dario, considered the Prince
of Spanish writing. Here we can find attractions
such as the Museum of Ruben Dario’s home
where the visitor can explore the house and
the different articles related to this famous
person. Nearby is also the famous Cathedral.
Colonial
buildings of Matagalpa Matagalpa
is also one of the most important destinations
in the country. Here you can visit two of the
most important buildings, famous for its arquitecture
and history. TheTtemple of San Jose de Laboria
in baroque style situated on front of Ruben
Dario Park and the Cathedral of San Pedro are
two of the most important jewels Nicaragua has
to offer. At a short distance from town and
at 1200 meters above sea level you can find
the black forest ( La Selva Negra ) a famous
cloud forest ideal for bird watching and relaxation.

Negra
Selva Negra is a nature preserve situated at
a short distance from Matagalpa and at height
of 1450 meters above sea level. Here you can
observe the Paradise Bird ( Quetzales ) and
also many species of birds, plants, trees and
wildlife.
Matagalpa
The region of Matagalpa is famous for having
one of the best climates in the world, being
cool and fresh pretty much all year round. The
ground is very irregular and mountainous, and
close to the heart of the city are many natural
highlights, including national parks like Cerro
Musun, where many wildlife species inhabit.
Also, there are very important buildings including
the San Jose de Laborio temple.
Reserva Natural Cerro
Musún Río Blanco
Cerro Musun Nature Preserve at a height of 1438
meters above sea level was once called the mountain
of water, by the local natives. Here the visitor
can find 8 wells and creeks with extremely clear
water and constant water supply, rolling down
the mountain from one cascade to another, creating
a very humid tropical forest and a perfect habitat
for local animal and plant species.

Esperanza Verde San Ramón
This Eco Lodge situated in Yucul, San Ramon,
near La Chispa, at 18 kilometers from Matagalpa.
Is one of the most famous highlights in Nicaragua.
The forests and ecosystems surrounding it are
very rich in wildlife, plants and animal species
alike.
La
Ruta del Café Currently,
one of the highlights is the coffee. Visitors
can see and learn about the coffee process,
typical of this area and one of the best in
the world.
El
Arenal Natural Reserve The Arenal
Nature Preserve protects a variety of endangered
species of plants, trees and animals. The area
is of 1300 acres, and it is situated in a mountainous
area near Jinotega.
San
Ramón In San Ramon, you
will be able to buy handcrafts and objects made
in the El Chile Indigenous Reserve. Here, locals
specialize in leather, textiles and other types
of techniques. They are famous for its bright
and alive colors.
