Solentiname and Rio San Juan

3 days and 2 nights

DAY 1: Managua- San Carlos- Sabalos Lodge. Early in the morning, transfer from Managua to San Carlos de Nicaragua, capital of the department of Rio San Juan and beautiful lakeshore city. From there, private boat transfer to the Soletiname Islands and Archipielago. Here, walk and explore the local nature and scenery, discover the culture and local traditions, visit the library, the famous local church. After lunch, afternoon transfer to Sabalos Lodge, situated on the Rio San Juan river. The wildlife here is simply amazing. Afternoon and evening at leisure or join the Night Crocodile Tour. Overnight at Sabalos Lodge.

DAY 2: Tour El Castillo and Indio Maíz. Breakfasts. Tour to explore the fortress of El Castillo. The fortress was built by the Spaniards to Project Granada and San Carlos from the pirate attacks, which destroyed the two cities in two occasions. El Castillo is situated on the Rio San Juan river. Here, you can walk through the trails and inside the fortress. After, visit the Bartola Preserve. We will enter the area through the famous Bartola River, which separates the Indio Maiz Preserve from the smaller Bartola Preserve. The wildlife here is probable the must amazing in the country. One inside the preserve, explore the trails, swim or enjoy bird watching. Afternoon return to the lodge and overnight at Sabalos Lodge.

DAY 3: Sábalos lodge- Río San Juan - San Carlos- Managua. Breakfasts and time for optional activities that include canoeing, swimming, hiking, walking, bird watching, canopy, horseback riding and many more. At noon, transfer back to San Carlos by boat and from there back to Managua. In case the itinerary continues into Costa Rica, transfer to the border with Costa Rica.
