of Nicaragua

Birds Nicaragua
has more than 700 species of birds discovered
until today. However, many more are suspected
to live in its forests. One of the most famous
birds is the Quetzal or Paradise Bird, which
lives in the colder cloud forests in higher
altitudes. Other birds include the colorful
hummingbirds, marine and seabirds, hawks, eagles

Insects Insects
can also be found. There are thousands of species
of insects that inhabit the various ecosystems
Nicaragua has within its borders, some the famous
tropical dry forest, the tropical rainforest,
the cloud forests, savannah and cattle ranches,
dwarf forest and cloud forests, mangroves and
estuaries and so many more.
Mammals There
are also abundant mammals that inhabit the forests
of Nicaragua. The species include the Jaguar,
the Ocelot, the Tapir, several species of monkeys,
raccoons and coati mundis, dears and many other.
Currently, a large percentage of Nicaragua is
under some sort of protection status, which
guarantees the conservation of these important
and interesting creatures.
Reptiles
Reptiles are also abundant in Nicaragua. Many
species of fresh water turtles snakes including
the famous Boa Constrictor, the Rattlesnake
and the coral snake, non poisonous snakes suck
as the roadrunner. Other species are lizards,
two species of iguanas and the crocodiles and
caimans. They inhabit in their favorite habitats,
such as estuaries and mangroves, swamps and
wet forests as well as tropical dry forests,
and cloud forests. Another interesting reptiles
specie the Jesus Christ Lizard or Basilisk,
which can run on water surface when chased by
a predator.

Marina Fauna The
Marine Wildlife of Nicaragua is also very rich.
Species of sea turtles nest and hacth along
the Caribbean and pacific coast beaches during
specific months of the year. Species of Dolphins
and Whales also visit Nicaragua`s oceans, both
the Caribean and the big blue Pacific Ocean.
Also, the coral reefs and its inhabitants, the
corals and the many species of fish, mollusks,
crabs, shrimps, eels and conks must be properly
protected in order to guarantee their conservation.
